I took this at the Knowsley Flower Show on Sun 9th August 2009 where the GRWE had an awareness stand to promote the charity and help look for homes for these wonderful hounds. If you’ve ever considered getting a rescue pet, I would highly recommend a rescue greyhound!

This is a tilt-shift video overlooking Cook St in Liverpool. Shots are taken 2 seconds apart with a frame-rate of ~30 frames per second.

This was taken using my Canon 350D with a stock 18-55mm lens. I added the tilt-shift effect afterwards in Photoshop (cheating, I know). The timelapse was done with a Pclix 100, each shot was 3 seconds apart, sequenced in Quicktime Pro at a FR of 24.9 sec – then edited in Premiere Pro for AR and sound edit.

Panasonic TM10 test footage

Here’s some test footage I made for any people looking at getting a Panasonic TM10 or an SD10. Overall I think it’s a great little camera, can’t wait to take some serious footage in Oz with it. Enjoy! (and yes, I know I need a new windscreen wiperblade)

RepRap and familiar faces

Wow! I just had to write about this. There I was, mooching through the submissions on reddit‘s front page when I came across an interesting looking title: “The RepRap is the most awesome machine ever built. We can only guess how these machines will change society when they will be ready.” I had a look at the site and sure enough the concept of a 3D printer which could replicate plastic objects in a similar fashion as a paper printer can do with documents today sounded pretty darn cool. I was watching the introductory video when lo-and-behold I see a familiar face. Ed Sells is a guy who went to the same school as me, a few years above my year and he’s an engineer on the project (which is GNU open source I might add). It’s really cool to see a guy I knew contributing towards something which may just advance our society in an as-yet unimaginable fashion.
