Thanks a ton! Really helped me out. It is so rare to find a clear, step by step instruction(s) out there that actually work. Most of the time the developer assumes the community knows that between step 3 and 4, you were suppose to reboot.... lol

Which server hardware are you on? I have to say, it's been a while since I had to do this - a couple of pointers:

Make sure you have the correct modules loaded in your initrd. Load the OVH CentOS image and see which modules they load into their custom image (remember, do not netboot) - see here for more info: http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-3122

You should also be aware that right now the CentOS mirrors are updating with 5.5 and while it shouldn't, this *might* cause an issue with the mirror which I specified in this HOWTO.

Let me know how you get on :)

Been trying to get this working for 24 hours now. I've added the atl1.ko to the kernel and this worked, vnc came up and I started installation, however it got stuck on "Starting Installation".

Reinstalled the OVH build of CentOS and did exactly the same steps except this time VNC did not come up after 30 mins.

I'm pulling my hair out over this.
