Thanks a ton! Really helped me out. It is so rare to find a clear, step by step instruction(s) out there that actually work. Most of the time the developer assumes the community knows that between step 3 and 4, you were suppose to reboot…. lol

Hey there,

i have a problem with, rubygems. at this part :

cd /var/www/rails/redmine/app/
rake db:migrate RAILS_ENV=”xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx”

My Shell answers this.

Rails requires RubyGems >= 1.3.2 (you have 1.3.1). Please `gem update –system` and try again.

when i try to update RubyGems.
gem update –system

Updating RubyGems

Updating rubygems-update
Successfully installed rubygems-update-1.3.7

:0:Warning: Gem::SourceIndex#search support for String

patterns is deprecated
Updating RubyGems to 1.3.7

Installing RubyGems 1.3.7

ERROR: Expected Ruby version >= 1.8.6, is 1.8.5
How i get to update my Ruby and all other packages ? need
some help… dont find anything on the internet about.

and if i try to update or install by a .rpm file. i get that Missing Dependency error.

hope somebody can help me with that.

Which server hardware are you on? I have to say, it’s been a while since I had to do this – a couple of pointers:

Make sure you have the correct modules loaded in your initrd. Load the OVH CentOS image and see which modules they load into their custom image (remember, do not netboot) – see here for more info: http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-3122

You should also be aware that right now the CentOS mirrors are updating with 5.5 and while it shouldn’t, this *might* cause an issue with the mirror which I specified in this HOWTO.

Been trying to get this working for 24 hours now. I’ve added the atl1.ko to the kernel and this worked, vnc came up and I started installation, however it got stuck on “Starting Installation”.

Reinstalled the OVH build of CentOS and did exactly the same steps except this time VNC did not come up after 30 mins.

I’m pulling my hair out over this.
