Puffy afternoon clouds
Here’s another time-lapse which I ran this afternoon based on the same profile as yesterday evening’s exposures. I decided to add some music to this one, since it lasted a little longer than the others…

With Canon you… erm, Can’t
Ok, so a year’s gone by, summer’s come around again and I wanted to do some more time-lapse photos, this time using my Eee PC as the host PC controlling the timing. So I routed through all my old driver CD’s and couldn’t find the Canon Digital Solutions CD with the Remote Capture software on it. I’d lost the CD!
I immediately went to the Canon website thinking I’d be able to download the drivers etc from there… and I was right. Almost. I gleefully found here the software I needed (or thought I needed) and proceeded to download it by clicking on the ‘English’ link towards the top right. Then I was presented with this…
Now you might be able to imagine how damned annoyed I was at this. For a respectable company such as Canon to not have working download links to software / drivers which are imperative to have in order to make the product work with a PC is quite frankly laughable.
Thankfully I’m wily in the ways of the internets and was able to find a copy of my missing CD (or one very similar to it) by searching on TPB and downloaded it. Now I’m just waiting for it to complete, unfortunately I’ve already missed one beautiful sunset this evening. Hopefully I won’t miss tomorrow’s!
Dog database…

After taking in a rescue greyhound which has obviously had a terrible ordeal at the hands of some very cruel owners I’m all for this scheme and would gladly participate. It’s exactly because of the way that ex-racer greyhounds are treated in this country that I would be a strong supporter of this database, once racing greyhounds have lived out their racing career for the most part they’re just seen as an unwanted, disposable commodity which has no further value or monetary worth and are quickly abandoned. The fewer others are lucky enough to be used to stud or breed – but even after they’ve lost this value they’re seen as being useless and disposable.
A scheme such as this may help reduce the abandonment and mis-treatment of retired greyhounds as well as reducing overall mistreatment of the species.
Contact juggling
I’d actually never heard of this sport until I came across a post on reddit this evening which linked to a video of a guy in a park performing in front of a small crowd. I thought it was pretty cool, the guy had obviously put a lot of time and practice in to the art and deservedly impressed the nearby spectators. And here it is….

I just came across this whilst Googling other documentaries related to ancient lost civilisations…
Of all the lost civilisations, the Sumerians were the daddies, the earliest known civilisation on Earth.

Documentary on the Mayans

This is truely a fascinating documentary covering the unique architectural aspects of the Pyramid of Kulkulkan, the Mesoamerican long count calendar which the Maya were obsessed with, as well as the prophecies written by the Mayan Priest called Chilam Balam which are eerily close to actual events. I’d say it’s definitely worth the 45 minutes of your time…
Brilliant images…
Here are seven of the best images I’ve discovered on my travels online in the past few months…
