I have just submitted the following to that BBC “Have your say” board…
“Look at this incident rationally, as any incident of this severity should be. The police had every opportunity to arrest de Menezes before he even got close to the underground. They didn’t. Instead they chose to use lethal force in a manner that put many more lives at risk than if they had arrested him quickly and quietly in a less populated area. If he was a suspect why wasn’t he arrested as soon as he left his house and taken for questioning? Ask yourself why the police decided, conciously, to take this action. It wasn’t as much of a split second decision as you are being led to believe. Wake up.”
It’ll be extremely interesting to see if it’s “approved” for posting on the page.
